The wind is warm and gentle in the darkness on Caswell Beach. Alice Ervin and her husband, Jay, are keeping a close watch on one of dozens of sea turtle nests, all carefully guarded by volunteers. The sand begins to percolate, then shifts and rolls as the hatchling sea turtles erupt onto the surface. They scramble wildly over each other and begin their instinctive journey to the sea, led only by the phosphorous light on the waves. This is the moment that Alice, Jay and the other volunteers have been waiting for. They are here to ensure the safe passage of these endangered creatures, to protect them from predators and to guide them home.

Caring and Compassion

The Turtle Watch happens only once a year, and Alice and her husband wouldn’t miss being a part of it. For Alice, the experience goes beyond protecting an endangered species. It’s the opportunity to guide those vulnerable baby turtles towards their new lives. Considering the many years Alice has spent guiding others towards success, it comes as no surprise that she would find such gratification in helping these innocent creatures. For this warm and compassionate woman, guiding others to success is a way of life.

A Clear Path

Alice experienced the same loving guidance from her parents. “They taught me and my brothers the value of honesty and integrity,” she says. After receiving her degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Alice completed an MBA while embarking on a long and successful career within the telecommunications industry developing user-friendly training, documentation, and graphical interfaces. “It wasn’t just about being a technical expert,” Alice remembers. “It was also about learning and understanding the needs of the end user. To help them learn the processes involved to meet those needs, we simplified highly-technical information to more effectively guide a broad range of people through them.”

A Guiding Star

It’s no surprise to learn that Alice’s great talent for guiding others is the foundation of her success as a real estate professional. She acts as mentor, educator and guide to her clients throughout the process of buying or selling a home, ensuring that they are well-informed and know what to expect and prepare for. “I really believe that keeping my clients informed is my most important responsibility,” she says. “The more I can help my clients understand what’s going to happen, the easier it is for them.” One of the ways Alice does so is through consistent communication and frequent updates.

A Valuable Resource

Alice acts as both a valuable guide and resource for each of her clients, providing them with both human and high tech solutions to make the entire real estate process as stress-free as possible. As someone who has personally bought, built and sold several homes, Alice has the unique capability to accurately assess both the value and the potential for a property. She’s also the source of a wealth of referrals for repairs and upgrades. Buyers and sellers who work with Alice know they can count on her to be there for them throughout every step of their transaction, and they benefit from her use of the latest in telecommunications and computer technology to do so.
